What is your biggest speaking challenge?
Noticed that I regularly use filler words during a presentation. It's bewildering that I never realized I was frequently saying filler words such as, 'um' or 'like' during pauses; it was a sub-conscience habit.
How comfortable are you speaking in front of others
It's a mixed experience for me.
What is your worst public speaking memory?
I vividly remember when I had a presentation for a public speaking class in high school; which was hilariously ironic. At the start of my presentation, I physically experienced my stomach cramping & twisting in knots, the feeling of my body temperate rapidly rising to inferno level, and repeatedly saying in my head "shit, shit, shit" as I'm about to start speaking in front of my class. After a few sentences in my presentation, my ultra-hyper nerves calmed down although I had frequent awkward pauses throughout the remainder of the presentation; which were moments of me mentally planning for the next topic. Overall my presentation was sandpaper, rough.
What is your goal for 2018 to improve your speaking skills?
Definitely improved since my awkward nervous high schooler days, but I am by-far not at a TED Talks presenter level. There's plenty of room for me to enhance my public speaking skills. My new set of goals are to maintain an ideal volume range consistently and to continue reducing & eventually eliminating my use of filler words.
How frequently do you plan to practice using Presentr?
1x per week
